The EQS: An all electric luxury sedan from Mercedes Benz

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan is widely touted as the flagship of the German carmaker’s electric future. With all-new curvaceous styling for a stylish exterior, a rear-drive or all-wheel-drive setup, and a spacious cabin packed with the latest technology make this an unmatched offering in its class. Stunning looks paired with the latest technology and all the safety features expected from Mercedes Benz are guaranteed to bump it to the top of the list for potential buyers.
The design team has done a fantastic job to deliver a sleek package based on a new platform exclusively designed for EV models The 2022 EQS will be available in two trim levels with either a 329-hp, rear-drive powertrain (EQS 450+) or a 516-hp, all-wheel-drive setup (EQS580 4MATIC®). Both options are powered by a large 107.8-kWh battery that provides more than 300 miles of driving range. More powerful AMG® models, along with coupe and cabriolet variants, are planned for the future. The EQS is expected to be followed by a fleet of new electrified models from the EQA, EQB, and EQE models in the near future.
The 2022 EQS delivers top-of-the-line performance without compromising on safety. A brand new all-electric platform has opened up new design possibilities for enhanced safety features. The battery is safely housed in a crash-protected area in the underbody. The battery, high-voltage (HV) cables, and other HV components have been designed and protected in such a way that they meet Mercedes-Benz’s high safety requirements in the event of an accident. The EQS also comes with crash monitoring when stationary (during DC charging) as a standard feature. All trim levels also include an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System that makes it easier for pedestrians to notice the car at low speeds. In addition to the driver and front passenger airbags, a knee airbag on the driver’s side is also standard. The PRESAFE® preventive occupant protection system is fitted as standard in the EQS to provide one of the safest experiences offered in the industry.

The EQS also comes loaded with technology. The MBUX Hyperscreen is the highlight of the cabin. Three screens sit under a common glass cover and visually merge into one display. In addition to the zero-layer design, the MBUX Hyperscreen offers intuitive touch sensors with force feedback. Three displays merge almost seamlessly into one another to create an impressive screen band over 56 inches wide: The Driver display (screen diagonal: 12.3 inches), central display (17.7 inches) and front passenger display (12.3 inches) appear as one visual unit. The software powering things behind the scenes is constantly learning and adapting to its user and makes personalized suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicular functions. Mercedes Benz has pioneered the zero-layer concept, the user does not have to scroll through submenus or make extensive use of voice commands.
In a nutshell, leading with stylish looks and powered by cutting-edge technology in a sleek package the EQS promises an experience that is sure to delight its intended audience.
