MBM + Tools & Tiaras Summer Program Field Trip

Tools and Tiaras is a Manhattan-based non-profit that aims to get young girls interested in trade careers, such as auto technicians, plumbers, or electricians. The organization conducts workshops where participants can learn about careers and real-life skills from tradeswomen in the field.
Tools & Tiaras Inc has a mission to advance the interest of young women who want to pursue non-traditional careers. They work to build a lasting passion and curiosity within the present generations of girls and women that will make them consider a career as an auto mechanic, electrician, carpenter, plumber, etc.
Mercedes-Benz Manhattan teamed up with MBUSA and Tools & Tiaras for their Summer Program: On July 14th, a group of 12-to 18-year old T&T Summer Program participants (campers and interns) visited Mercedes-Benz Manhattan.
The day kicked off at 10 am with a welcome from GM Tom Shanley with a team including Lauren Heymann, Jorge Rosas, and Saleena Jones. Saleena shared the story of starting her career as a Technician. Following this, the group accompanied by their chaperones went on a behind-the-scenes tour with Jorge Rosas (Assistant Manager – Shop Operations) and Saleena. The tour also included a hands-on activity in the tire bay in the Service Shop. This was followed by a lively Fact vs Fiction game session with a quick Q&A in the cafeteria.
The event concluded with some closing thoughts from the MBM team, prizes, and gifts for the young participants. The MBM team was delighted to have the opportunity to support and give back to the community while helping inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.
