THE 2019 GLS
The GLS is engineered and equipped to set the bar for 7-passenger luxury SUVs. Its legacy of leadership includes benchmarks like the S-Class sedan and iconic G-Class. And it’s eager to lead your family anywhere in bold and brilliant style, from it’s LED lighting, to wheels from 19 to 22 inches, to a body that’s at once muscular and aerodynamic.
Heated power front seats. A second row that reclines. And a power-folding third row with adult-sized comfort. No matter where you take a seat in the GLS, the GLS takes you to a place where leadership is omnipresent: in roominess, in refinement, and in its rewards. Available innovations range from massaging front seats to a vast Panorama roof. Large side doors and innovative EASY-ENTRY 2nd-row seats welcome up to seven adults to three rows of luxury seating, including a spacious third row. The standard power liftgate, power-folding third row and 60/40-split second row accommodate up to 93.8 cubic feet of cargo. In any configuration, the GLS has an extraordinary capacity to satisfy.
Responsive V6 and V8 biturbo engines make more power torque from less gasoline, with advanced Direct Injection and multispark ignition that self-tune every few milliseconds. Along with as many as nine paddle-shifted speeds, DYNAMIC SELECT lets you choose a driving mode to match your mood, from Comfort to Sport or even one for slick surfaces.
A team of advanced technologies boost safety, reduce stress, and help to smooth every move. Radar-based Active Brake Assist can help you avoid a collision. Innovations help fend off crosswinds and prepare for front, rear and rollover accidents. Available Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control can even guide you with Active Steering Assist.* The available COMAND® system’s big 8-inch central screen unites entertainment, navigation, driving systems and vehicle settings with clear, colorful animated menus and an intuitive touchpad controller on the console. Choose from two custom-tailored audio systems crafted expressly for the GLS: one by harman/kardon® and one from Bang & Olufsen®**
*Active Brake Assist may not be sufficient to avoid an accident. It does not react to certain stationary or suddenly moving objects or pedestrians, may not react in certain situations where objects cannot be clearly identified, nor does it recognize or predict the curvature and/or lane layout of the road or every movement of vehicles and pedestrians ahead. It is the driver’s responsibility at all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the system’s alerts before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time and distance to brake safely. See Operator’s Manual for system operating speeds and additional information and warnings. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® is not a substitute for active driving involvement. It does not adapt cruising speed in response to stationary objects, nor does it predict the curvature and lane layout of the road ahead or the movement of vehicles ahead. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake maintenance, and tire and road conditions. See Operator’s Manual for system operating speeds and additional information and warnings. Active Steering Assist requires driver to hold steering wheel and be ready to steer vehicle at any time. It may not recognize lane markings in some lighting, weather and road conditions. It is the driver’s responsibility at all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. **While the navigation system provides directional assistance, the driver must remain focused on safe driving behavior, including paying attention to traffic and street signs. The driver should utilize the system’s audio cues while driving and should only consult the map or visual displays once the vehicle has been stopped in a safe place. Maps do not cover all areas or all routes within an area.
