2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA vs GLC

Both of these luxury SUVs are a solid choice for the Mercedes-Benz fan looking to make a purchase. They have the legendary craftsmanship with all the perks this brand is known for. A variety of colors for the interior and exterior give potential buyers a diverse selection of options to choose from. The price difference is only a few thousand dollars so buyers can focus on details of the features instead of the cost factor. Mileage is also comparable for each model since the lighter frame was incorporated this year.

Growing families that want quality and long-term value will be impressed with the head, leg, and cargo room. Businesses looking to upgrade their image with a fleet of exceptional vehicles should check these two models out. Entrepreneurs such as real estate agents will make a sophisticated statement to clients when they arrive in either one of these SUVs. With a smooth ride and features that cater to passengers, road trips will not have the cliche ‘are we there yet’ spoken.

Mercedes-Benz Performance

Expect performance of pure exhilaration with turbo powered engines. The GLA has 208 hp, while the GLC offers a little more with 241 hp. An AMG® version of the 2016 GLA is the exception with 375 hp. The torque performs well for each with a floating agility in turns and during maneuvers. Depending on the model, the choices for the transmission are seven and nine speed automatic.

Appearance and Safety

The front grill for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLC has the bold Mercedes-Benz emblem on the grill. More similarities include the aerodynamic design and the front lights have dual lamps with mini-bulbs along the top. The rear for the GLC is broader with a higher roof line and lights that are blended with the body.

The GLA has a smaller rear with lights that protrude out slightly from the frame. The side mirrors are round for the 2016 GLC, while the GLA has an angled square design. Tires are equipped with 17 or 19 inches on custom rims with a slightly different design. GLA has an overall sportier look as oppose to the more imposing full-bodied GLC.

Mercedes-Benz is known for pioneering safety features with trendsetting technology. GLA has standard options that make for stress-free driving. The radar-guided Collision Prevention Assist Plus system acts as a lane protector from drifting drivers. The autonomous braking as well as the ATTENTION ASSIST® alerts drivers that are falling asleep. More safety options are available including Blind Spot and Lane Keeping. GLC comes with all of the features mentioned as standard along with the new DISTRONIC PLUS® that monitors cruise control and steering. This brand pioneered the Intelligent Drive options that have taken road safety technology to new levels.
